The Open Door

The Open Door

As I was praying through what God had for 2022, I saw a pair of giant wooden doors in the heavenly distance. I watched as these doors were opened as blinding light beamed through the other side. What was previously closed has now been opened and only opened by the Lord!

What does this mean for you?

I see this as an invitation if you are waiting. There are desires that God has put in your heart that have not come to fruition yet. Perhaps it has been years. The weightiness has made you feel discouraged or disillusioned, even doubting what God has given you. This word is to reassure you that your waiting is not in vain as the Lord has what is good on the other side. As David exclaimed in Psalm 27:13-14, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

This word encourages you not to give up. Don’t focus on what hasn’t come – this can be demoralizing. Instead, remain steadfast on the possibility of what can happen. His timing is the best timing! Yet you can be comforted by the words of Jesus, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Look at it this way:

  • AskMake your requests known to God. He is your Heavenly Father, and so let Him know what is it is that you are asking for. If it’s important, mention it!
  • Seek Search the Lord for your answers. Humble yourself and set a fast to seek His face. Be diligent in the Word and have rhythms of prayer throughout the day.
  • KnockKeep pressing in and keep praying! No one knocks on a door one time – it is a repetitive action to get the person’s attention on the other side. Our knocking reveals our determination with what we need and how much it means to us.

It is a season for increased faith. It takes a greater degree of trust to believe that the Lord will open those doors for you. Even the Apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith, so calling on God for more faith is what we should do. (Luke 17:5). Thankfully, all you need is a small amount to start, the size of a mustard seed. And so, your faith can move mountains – nothing will be impossible for you! (Matthew 17:20).

I’m excited at the possibilities for what God has for you and me this year. Please let me know if you would like prayer regarding the open door for your life. Keep knocking! May God open that door for you, leading to the best that He has for you.

“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.” – Isaiah 22:22

Blessings in Jesus’ Name,

Pastor Nathan

      • Pastor Nathan, The Lord has gifted you to continue to build up and edify the Lord’s people. Always encouraged by your visions and how you explain practically and with simplicity the meaning and how the Lord desires us to respond by faith and obedience. Believing the Lord for great and impossible things this year in your life and Valerie’s as you both continue to faithfully serve our Lord Jesus.

    • You’re very welcome Holly!
I am thrilled that this verse encouraged you as it leads you closer to Jesus each day.
I will be praying that the door you are waiting for will be opened. May God give you the patience while you wait and the diligence to keep on knocking – don’t give up! (Luke 18:1-8). The Lord is the God of peace and I pray that will be given to you in great measure.

  4. Yes, 2022 is the year of the open door. I’m 63 and many years/decades ago the Lord promised open doors. Recently, I was asked to speak on January 17th. Sometimes it takes years to prepare us for His timing. Sometimes we have to die to some things. Today, though I am very thankful and honored to speak for the Lord, my greatest joy is found in being a grandmother. That keeps me grounded and will serve to protect me from selfish ambition, etc. The Lord needs obedient vessels who will allow Him to be seen, vessels who will shine the spotlight on Him, vessels who will be able to handle the power of the Holy Spirit without letting it destroy them. Open doors carry with them a tremendous responsibility. He trains us to be able to handle them and handle them well. Please pray for me that the Lord would order my thoughts and speak through me, that the anointing, presence, and the power of the Holy Spirit would be there, that the Lord would be seen and not me, that there would be no fear, that hearts would receive from Him, and that even though they billed me as an author and whatever open doors would follow during this season, I would always just simply think of myself as a Grandma; a Grandma who left her cave and obediently stepped through the open door only because she loved her Lord. Yes, 2022 is the year of the open door.

    • What a wonderful testimony of how the Lord has opened the door for you this year Terri! I appreciate you sharing your requests and your heart. I will be praying for your speaking engagement on January 17th, that you will speak what the Holy Spirit has given you – filled with wisdom, grace, and boldness. He is with you and has prepared for you such a time as this! God bless you and I look forward to hearing how it went.
